Dennis Hedström (born July 24, 1987 ) is a Swedish - Icelandic ice hockey goalkeeper who has been under contract with Göteborgs IK in Swedish Division 3 , the fifth highest division in the Scandinavian country, since October 2015 . His brother Robin Hedström is also an Icelandic international.

Career

Dennis Hedström began his career as an ice hockey goalkeeper in the youth department of the then Swedish second division club Växjö Lakers Hockey , for which he made it to the second highest Swedish youth class in both the U-18 and U-20 areas. From 2006 to 2012 he played mainly for various lower-class Swedish clubs, where it never lasted more than a year, but also in Iceland, Austria and France. With Vimmerby Hockey in 2011 he was promoted to the Swedish Division 1 , the third highest division in the country. From 2012 to 2014 he was in goal at Åseda IF in the south of Sweden , with whom he rose from Division 3 to Division 2 in 2013. After he also spent the 2014/15 season at Ljungby HK in Division 2, he switched to Bäcken HC , which also competes in this division. In October 2015 he moved on to Göteborgs IK from Division 3.

International

Although he has so far mainly been active for Swedish clubs and was only on the ice in Iceland for one year, Dennis Hedström always played in the Icelandic national team . He played in Division II at the World Championships in 2008 , 2009 , 2010 , 2011 , 2012 , 2013 , 2014 , 2015 , 2016 and 2017. He achieved the best catch quota of all goalkeepers in the tournament in 2009 and the second best in 2015. In 2010, 2011 and 2014 it achieved the third best catch quota.
