Robin Hoffmann (born February 18, 1984 in Großenhain ) is a German composer , orchestrator and arranger .

Childhood and youth

Robin Hoffmann's father, Thomas Hoffmann, is a cellist and pianist and played in professional bands such as SET and Gong for a long time and had a significant influence on his musical development. Hoffmann began playing the piano at the age of seven and wrote his first compositions at the age of eleven. As part of his Abitur, he wrote a composition for symphonic orchestra, which was premiered in 2001 by the Neue Elbland Philharmonie under Peter Fanger.

After finishing school, he devoted himself to composing music for amateur films, film student projects and computer games.

From 2004 to 2008 he studied composition , arrangement and piano under Rainer Lischka , Marko Lackner , Lars Juling , Clemens Kühn and Jochen Aldinger at the Carl Maria von Weber Academy of Music in Dresden .

Professional career

While still a student he was commissioned to write the film music for the Swiss-British film production company Save Angel Hope . A year later he founded the company "Nachos and Cheese" with the Swiss composer Moritz Schneider, which specializes in the composition and production of music for the media. Since then he has worked with Schneider on various Central European film productions.

In 2009 Hoffmann was commissioned to write the music for Dällebach Kari - the musical that premiered at the Thunerseespiele on July 14, 2010 in Thun , Switzerland . In addition to his work for films, musicals and media, he writes concert music for various ensembles and artists. He worked with the London Symphony Orchestra , which recorded its Violin Concerto for Anna Karkowska at London's Abbey Road Studios in 2010 under the direction of Benjamin Wallfisch . He has also worked with the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, the Brandenburg State Orchestra Frankfurt (Oder) , the Dresden Philharmonic , the Dresden Youth Symphony Orchestra, the Robert Balzar Trio , KungFu Horns and Chris Muzik.
