Robert Victor "Robin" Campell Montgomerie-Charrington (born June 22, 1915 in London ; † April 3, 2007 ) was a British racing driver .

Career

In Formula 1 , "Monty", as he was often called, only drove one single World Championship race, which he could not finish due to a technical defect (misfire): At the Belgian Grand Prix in 1952 in Spa-Francorchamps on 22. In June 1952 he was in starting position 15 after qualifying. The car he used was an Aston Butterworth , which he had bought from his former Formula 3 rival Bill Aston . Since most of his sponsorship money came from the United States, he painted his car light blue, the standard color for American racing cars at the time.

Montgomerie-Charrington later emigrated to the USA .
