Rod Tempero Limited , previously Tempero Coach & Motor Company Limited , is a New Zealand manufacturer of automobiles .
Company history
Alan Tempero founded Tempero Coach & Motor Company Limited in Oamaru in 1946 . In 1979 or 1981 the production of automobiles began under the direction of his son Errol Tempero. The brand name is Tempero . His son Rod Tempero now runs the company, which operates as Rod Tempero Limited .
vehicles
The first model was a replica of the Jaguar D-Type . The basis was a half-monocoque. The body was made of aluminum panels . This model was also available with an extended front. A replica of the Jaguar XK-SS was also on offer. The first 48 vehicles of these models were built by 1995.
The company also produced replicas of the Aston Martin DBR 2 , Lister-Jaguar and Jaguar E-Type in the lightweight version.
In 1994 a replica of the Jaguar XJ 13 appeared . A V12 engine with a capacity of 5300 cm³ propelled the vehicles. The first three copies were exported to the USA .
The company itself also names the Jaguar C-Type , Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa and Ferrari California models .
The company also restores classic vehicles.
A replica of a Jaguar D-Type was for 75,000 US dollars sold.
In January 2012, RM Auctions auctioned a replica of Tempero's Jaguar XK-SS for $ 145,750.
A replica of a Jaguar XJ 13 fetched $ 176,000 at auction on August 2, 2014.
