Rodrigo Santana , called Rodrigão (born April 17, 1979 in São Paulo ) is a Brazilian volleyball player .

Career

Rodrigão started his career in Suzano in 1996 and became Brazilian champion in the same year. In 2000 he switched to EC Banespa . The following year, the middle blocker won the World League and the South American Championship with the Brazilian national team . In 2002 the Brazilians and Rodrigão won the final of the World Cup against Russia . In 2003 they repeated their successes in the world league and in the continental championship and also won the World Cup . Then the middle blocker played a season with the Italian first division club Estense Torri Ferrara . In 2004 he took part in the Olympic tournament in which Brazil won the gold medal by beating Italy . After the third double triumph in the World League and South American Championship, he returned to Italy in 2005. At Lube Macerata , he replaced a fatally injured player. With the Italian team, Rodrigão won the national championship and the CEV Cup in 2006 . In 2007 Brazil was successful again in the World Cup . The following year Rodrigão played his second Olympic tournament in Beijing ; this time his national team lost to the USA in the final . In 2009 he moved to the Brazilian club EC Pinheiros and in 2011 to the league competitor SESI São Paulo . At the 2012 Olympic Games in London , he again won the silver medal with Brazil. After half 2013 season at RJX Rio de Janeiro Rodrigão early 2014 went to Iran to Barij Essence Kashan .
