Roger Joseph Felli

Colonel Roger Joseph Atogetipoli Felli (born May 2, 1941 in Navrongo , † June 26, 1979 in Accra , Ghana) was a Ghanaian military, politician and former Foreign Minister of Ghana . Felli was Ghana's Foreign Minister from 1975 to 1979 during the military dictatorship under Ignatius Kutu Acheampong .

Life

Felli began his military career with the Ghana Armed Forces and participated in many training steps in Great Britain. As early as 1963 he was appointed to the rank of lieutenant , from which he continued his military career to colonel .

In 1972 Felli first became Minister ( Commissioner ) for Labor and Construction under the Acheampong regime . He later became Minister for Trade, Tourism, Economic Planning and Foreign Affairs.

He was killed in the bloody coup by Jerry Rawlings on June 26, 1979. He was one of eight soldiers who were executed in Accra that day. Other victims of this execution were Gen. Akwasi Afrifa , Gen. Fred Akuffo , Vice Marshal of the Air Force Yaw Boakye , Maj . Gen. Robert Kotei , Admiral Roy Amedume . President Ignatius Kutu Acheampong was executed with Major General Utuka on June 16.

After the colonel was buried in an unnamed grave in Accra, he was later transferred to Navrongo in his hometown and solemnly buried at the end of 2001.

The Upper East Region Regional Secretary Major Joe Felli is a younger brother of Roger Joseph Felli. Raphael Felli is a son of Felli and works as a public prosecutor in the USA.
