Population development

Like most small towns in Arkansas, Rogers has particularly high population growth. In Arkansas there are now 9 cities that were mostly extremely small with around 50,000 or more inhabitants 50 years ago. The problems that such population growth brings with it are manifold and in 2010 there were already 463,204 inhabitants in the metropolitan area to which Rogers belongs. Due to the global economic crisis , the situation on the US labor market has been difficult for several years and the urgently needed jobs for the new residents are not available in sufficient quantities or are underpaid.

The states and counties are increasingly having to save money because of the debt problem and are therefore making cuts in important areas. For example, when expanding the infrastructure (e.g. garbage collection, expanding roads, local public transport, railways or airports, etc.), building public buildings such as new schools, libraries, but also fire brigade or police stations. Often not enough new civil servants are hired for these savings reasons. A task that numerous cities, mostly in the so-called "southern states", will have to cope with in the coming years.
