Roland Gerbacea (born March 17, 1989 ) is a Romanian biathlete .

Roland Gerbacea is a student and lives in Râșnov . He has been running biathlon since 1996 and starts at club level for the CSS Dinamo Râșnov . He contested his first international races ten years later as part of the Junior European Cup in Obertilliach . The first major event was the 2007 Junior World Championship in Martell , where the Romanian achieved a 22nd place in the sprint as the best result. The following season he won a Junior European Cup in Bansko and was also third once. The 2008 Junior World Championships in Ruhpolding also produced good results . The best results were ninth place in the sprint and fourth place in the relay. He then ran in Nové Město na Moravě at the Junior European Championship and finished eleventh in the pursuit as the best result in the Czech Republic. Gerbacea's third Junior World Championships were the title fights in Canmore , where 22nd place in the sprint was the best result. The highlight of the young Romanian's career so far was his participation in the 2009 Biathlon World Championships in Pyeongchang , where he was used in three races. At first he ran the sprint (40th) and the pursuit race (47th), but was later disqualified for both races retroactively because of leaving the competition track. The individual went without any problems, where Gerbacea came in a respectable 65th place. The third major event of the season was the 2009 European Biathlon Championships in Ufa , where it was used in the junior races. Apart from 12th place in the sprint, he got single-digit placements in all three other races. In the individual and the pursuit Gerbacea was sixth, with the relay he came in fifth place. In the summer he took part in the junior races of the Summer Biathlon European Championships 2010 in Osrblie and won the bronze medal in the mixed competition with the junior mixed relay of Romania alongside Réka Ferencz , Diana Mihalache and Remus Faur . He was also 17th sprint and 13th in the pursuit. At the start of the 2010/11 season , Gerbacea achieved his best World Cup result so far in Östersund as 46th in an individual.
