Roman Morgunow ( Bulgarian Роман Моргунов , Russian Роман Александрович Моргунов Roman Alexandrowitsch Morgunow ; born July 4, 1982 in Sverdlovsk ) is a former Russian - Bulgarian ice hockey player and today's coach with the Bulgarian ice hockey league , who was under Bulgarian ice hockey until 2012 .

Career

Roman Morgunow began his career as a hockey player at Dinamo-Energija Yekaterinburg , for whose professional team he made his debut in the Russian Super League in the 2000/01 season , where he remained unpunished in two games. In the same season he came to ten missions for Kedr Novouralsk in the second-rate Wysschaja Liga . After a three-year break, the defender joined HK Slavia Sofia from the Bulgarian ice hockey league for the 2004/05 season , with which he immediately won the national championship . After a season with the French second division club HC Limoges , the national player returned to HK Slawia Sofia in the summer of 2006, for whom he has played since then and with whom he won the championship and cup double in 2008 and 2009. In 2009 he was also named the league's best defender. In 2010, 2011 and 2012 he was again Bulgarian champion with Slavia Sofia. He then ended his active career.

International

For Bulgaria Morgunov took part in the World Championships of Division II in 2005 , 2006 , 2008 and 2009 , 2010 , 2011 and 2012 . He was also part of the Bulgarian squad to qualify for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver .

Coaching career

As an assistant coach, he was in charge of the Bulgarian junior national teams at the U18 World Cup in Division III in 2010 and in the U20 World Cup in Division III in 2010 and 2011 .
