Romy Eggimann (born September 29, 1995 in Sumiswald ) is a Swiss ice hockey player who has been under contract with HC Ladies Lugano in SWHL A since 2009 .

Career

Romy Eggimann began her career in the junior division of HC Lugano , for whose male juniors she was active until 2010 (mini). During the 2008/09 season she made her debut for the club's women's team, the Lugano Ladies Team , in what was then class A , the highest women's ice hockey league in Switzerland. At the end of the season she won her first Swiss championship title with HC Lugano.

Another championship title followed in 2010 with the HC Lugano Ladies. In the following years she increased her points from season to season and thus developed into a top performer and national player. In 2014 Eggimann won another Swiss championship with the women of HC Lugano. A year later she was able to defend this title with HC Lugano and celebrate her fourth championship.

In 2017 she won the Swiss Cup competition, the Swiss Women's Hockey Cup, with the ladies . She was also the top scorer of all participants in the SWHL A playoffs with seven goals. A year later, Eggimann and her teammates failed again in the playoff final at the ZSC Lions before they won their fifth Swiss championship title in 2019. In addition, she was the best assists in the SWHL A in the regular season with 31 assists .

International

From 2011 Eggimann played for the U18 junior national team in Switzerland and took part in the U18 world championships in the top division in 2011 and 2012 . In the latter, the U18 juniors were relegated to Division I. At the U18 World Cup in Division I a year later , Eggimann took second place with the national team and was (together with Dominique Rüegg ) the best assists of the tournament with five assists.

At the 2013 Women's World Cup , Eggimann completed her first world championship for the Swiss women's national ice hockey team .

In January 2014 Eggimann was nominated by national coach René Kammerer for the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi and won the Olympic bronze medal with the national team.

Further participation in world championships followed in 2015 (6th place) and 2016 (7th place). Eggimann had completed 57 international matches for Switzerland by 2018.
