The 2009/2010 season in performance class A was the 21st edition of the top division in Swiss women's ice hockey and at the same time the 24th Swiss championship. HC Lugano won the title for the fourth time in five years . The women's team of the EHC Visp was relegated from performance class A and then disbanded.

mode

The game mode provides for preliminary and intermediate rounds as well as play-offs (best-of-three) and play-outs. The preliminary and intermediate rounds consist of the first and second round with 10 and 8 games per team. Before the second round, the points collected are shared and the team in 6th place takes part directly in the playouts. After the second round, the teams in ranks 1-4 will play for the Swiss championship title in the play-offs, while the season has ended for the team in fifth and sixth place.

In the play-outs, the team in 6th place in the preliminary round plays against the four best LKB teams for promotion and relegation.

Class A games are scored according to the three-point rule : three points are awarded for a win after regular time, two points for a win after overtime or a penalty shoot-out, one point for a defeat after overtime or a penalty shoot-out and one point for a defeat regular playing time zero points.

Attendees

Due to the dissolution of the women's team at Küssnachter SC , only six teams started the 2009/10 season.
