The 2005/2006 season of the Performance Class A was the 17th staging of the top division in the Swiss woman Hockey and also the 20th Swiss championship. The HC Lugano women's team won the title for the first time in the club's history .

mode

The game mode introduced before the 2001/02 season with 20 game rounds and a final tournament was replaced by a mode with qualifying round, split intermediate round and play-offs (best-of-three) and play-outs. The qualifying round consists of a round trip with a total of 14 games per team. The teams in ranks 1-4 and 5-8 then play the intermediate round separately, with half of the points taken. Each team plays 6 games in the intermediate round. The teams in the play-off group then play in the play-offs for the Swiss championship title, while the teams in positions 7 and 8 play in the play-outs against the two best LKB teams for promotion and relegation (Play -outs).

Another innovation was the introduction of overtime according to the two-point rule - in the event of a tie after 60 minutes, both teams receive one point. The winning team ( sudden death ) receives an additional point in extra time. In the play-offs, a penalty shoot-out will be introduced in the event of a tie after extra time .

Attendees

Due to the addition of two teams to the league, a total of eight teams took part in the season:
