Rondo A Tre is a mainly instrumental album by Sigi Schwab and Percussion Academia . It was recorded in May 1983 at Union Studios in Munich and released on CD that same year .

Stylistic

Sigi Schwab, a classical guitarist with a penchant for jazz-rock fusion and one of the world's most renowned German jazz musicians at the time, began working with the two jazz percussionists Guillermo Marchena , who had previously played in Klaus Doldinger's Passport , and Freddie Santiago from Peter in the 1980s Herbolzheimer Rhythm Combination & Brass . Schwab's polyphonic 12-string guitar and the complex, South American-influenced rhythm of the two percussionists are characteristic of the project. This style is considered to be an important representative of the beginning world music of the early 1980s, and was continued in 1985 with the album Silversand , and the compositions were also kept in the repertoire by Schwab with the new Trio Percussion Project (Keller, Shotham ) from 1994 onwards.

Recording technology

The album was recorded in Munich's Union Studios in April 1983 and pressed using the new DMM process, and was re-released in 2007 as an LP from the direct tapes. The acoustic quality of the recordings is still called remarkable today.
