Rosalia (first name)
Rosalia or Rosalie is a female given name .
Origin and meaning of the name
In Christianity, the name is interpreted as Latin 'the rose-like' as an honorary title of Mary, mother of Jesus or as a derivation of rosario ' rosary ' and related to the rosary festival. The name became popular with the inclusion of the Sicilian saint Rosalia Sinibaldi (12th century) in the Roman calendar of saints in 1630. The name came into the German-speaking world - as the plague saint, Rosalia is a typical saint of the Counter Reformation - in the course of the middle modern period.
