Rosario Saro Vella SDB (born May 8, 1952 in Canicattì , Province of Agrigento , Italy ) is an Italian religious priest and Roman Catholic Bishop of Moramanga .

Life

After visiting the novitiate of Don Bosco's Salesians in San Gregorio di Catania , he took his first vows on September 12, 1968. After completing his ecclesiastical studies, first in San Gregorio and then at the Theological Institute in Messina , he was ordained a priest on May 27, 1979 . After specializing in philosophy at the University of Palermo , he went on a mission to Madagascar in 1981 , initially as a pastor to Ankililoaka from 1982 to 1995 , and as novice master in 1989 and 1990 . From 1995 to 2004 he was pastor, from 2004 to 2007 director in Bemaneviky .

On November 7, 2007 he was welcomed by Pope Benedict XVI. appointed Bishop of Ambanja in Madagascar. The Archbishop of Antananarivo , Odon Marie Arsène Razanakolona , donated him episcopal consecration on December 16, 2007. Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Messina-Lipari-Santa Lucia del Mela , Calogero La Piana SDB, and the Apostolic Nuncio in Madagascar, Archbishop Augustine Kasujja .

In addition to his bishopric, he taught patristic at the interdiocesan seminary in Antsiranana .

Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Moramanga on July 8, 2019. The inauguration took place on September 16 of the same year.
