Rosel Walther

Rosel Walther (née Fischer ; born January 12, 1928 in Landsberg an der Warthe ; † August 24, 2006 in Berlin ) was a German functionary of the NDPD block party . She was a member of the State Council of the GDR .

Life

Walther, daughter of a saddler, attended elementary school and from 1942 to 1945 a teacher training institution. From 1945 to 1950 she worked as a teacher in Gransee . In 1946 she became a member of the Free German Trade Union Federation and in 1949 she joined the National Democratic Party of Germany (NDPD) in Gransee. From 1950 to 1952 she was an assistant and teacher at NDPD party schools and from 1951 to 1955 she completed a distance learning course at the German Academy for Political Science and Law , where she graduated as a state scientist .

From 1952 to 1953 she was a member of the NDPD state committee in Brandenburg and the NDPD district committee in Potsdam . From 1953 to 1961 and from 1964 to 1966 she was department head in the NDPD party executive and from 1961 to 1964 chair at the central NDPD party school in Waldsieversdorf . From 1966 to 1972 she was director there. From 1963 to 1990 she was a member of the NDPD main committee and from 1967 to 1990 also the party executive committee and the presidium of the main committee. From 1964 to 1966 she headed the Political Studies department in the Secretariat of the Main Committee and was chairwoman of the NDPD's Women's Commission. From 1972 to November 1989 she worked as secretary of the NDPD main committee.

From 1950 to 1958 and again from 1967 to March 1990 she was a member of the People's Chamber , from 1973 deputy chair of the NDPD parliamentary group and from 1986 member of the budget and finance committee. From 1971 to 1989 she was also a member of the State Council.

Walther was deputy chairwoman of the Central Committee of People's Solidarity from 1959 to 1965 , from 1964 to 1969 a member of the federal executive committee of the Democratic Women's Federation of Germany , from 1974 a member of the Presidium of the GDR Peace Council and from 1974 to 1986 a member of the World Peace Council .

From 1990 she was a member of the Federation of Free Democrats and the Free Democratic Party .
