The rose primrose is used as an ornamental plant in gardens. Some varieties are 'Gigas' (= 'Wasseme's Riesen'), 'Grandiflora' and 'Mica Vissmer de Geer' (= 'Delight'). Crosses with Primula clarkei and Primula warshenewskiana resulted in robust, large-flowered varieties like 'Johanna'.
