Fritz Bleyl
Fritz Bleyl (full name: Hilmar Friedrich Wilhelm Bleyl * 8. October 1880 in Zwickau ; † 19th August 1966 in Bad Iburg ) was a German architect and painter of Expressionism .
life and work
Together with Ernst Ludwig Kirchner , Bleyl began studying architecture at the Dresden Technical University in 1901 . On June 7, 1905, Kirchner, Erich Heckel , Karl Schmidt-Rottluff and Fritz Bleyl founded the artist group "Brücke" . For a short time, Bleyl also pursued the goal of a free artist's existence, but gave it up again in 1907 to become a drawing teacher and to marry.
Bleyl left the group in 1907 and settled in Freiberg in 1909 . From 1910 to 1912 he worked in the office of the Dresden architect Ernst Kühn and then until 1914 in a similar position in Rostock . In 1916 Bleyl successfully completed his doctorate with Cornelius Gurlitt in Dresden.
In 1919 he was promoted to a teacher, and in 1940 to a building officer at the Berlin State Building School. After the end of the war, he found a job as a student and building officer at the Berlin building trade school .
Between 1948 and 1949 Bleyl lived and worked in his hometown and then settled in Knechtsteden in the Rhineland. In 1952 he went to Schlebusch near Cologne for five years . In 1958 Bleyl settled in Lugano and stayed there until the end of his life.
