Rosi SM (artist name without spaces within the "SM"), bourgeois Rosemarie Schneider-Mohamed (born May 9, 1950 in Hösbach im Spessart , as Rosemarie Bergmann ; † August 2014 ) was a German director .

life and career

Rosemarie Schneider left the English Misses' secondary school in Aschaffenburg in 1965 and then worked as an industrial clerk .

She married early and had two daughters. In 1972, after the failure of her marriage with her children, she moved to Berlin , followed her secondary school leaving certificate and Abitur, and in 1982 finished studying directing and cinematography at the German Film and Television Academy in Berlin . This was followed by the production of several artistic short and feature films as well as further training as a journalist and multimedia designer .

From 1984 to 1986 she was given the management of a professorship at the University of Fine Arts in Braunschweig as well as the management of the film class and the university cinema. From 1987 to 1989 she created the structures for community radio at the Volkshochschule Düsseldorf and trained the editorial management of this private radio station. From 1990 to 1991 she was responsible for public relations in the cultural department of the city of Düsseldorf and for the management of the city's cultural program at the first Düsseldorf women's fair "Top 91".

From 1994 to 1996 she headed the film archive of the International Short Film Festival Oberhausen . As head of organization in the film commission, she had a say in the selection of films at the Oberhausen International Short Film Festival. Then she worked as a lecturer at various media institutions. From 2001 to 2004 she was project and team leader for the photo and written material archive of the Filmmuseum Düsseldorf .

At the same time, Rosi SM works as a freelance (film) artist, staging readings of her own texts and organizing film / art performances and exhibitions of her work . Since 2009 she has been living in Berlin again.

From 2011 to 2012 Rosi SM lived at the Swatch Art Peace Hotel in Shanghai at the invitation of the Swatch Group (China) . As an artist in residence she shot a. a. for a long experimental film and prepared parts of a film performance / room installation. The film is also being produced: ShanghaiBlues (AT). In Shanghai and in the city of Wu Han, she showed exhibitions of her collages, objects, photographs and room installations. a. in the Swatch Art Peace Hotel and some of them have been incorporated into the Swatch Collection.

From February to May 2013 she showed the exhibition “Collage Detail as Photography”, a focus on works created in Shanghai, in the gallery of Café Barfly in Berlin. In summer 2013 she was selected for the “Open Air Gallery Berlin” at the Oberbaumbrücke and showed a selection of her objects, paintings, new collages and photo works from Shanghai. For the “FotoKunstLauf”, an exhibition of photos from the Spandau district, a photo work by her was presented in the Spandau-Arkaden in September 2013.

The film museum of the state capital Düsseldorf (North Rhine-Westphalia) collects all film works, written material, posters and photographs by Rosi SM in the in-house film archive, your films are there - mostly - available on DVD.
