The red hump is 540.2  m above sea level. NHN high mountain in the Odenwald in the Würzberg district of the city of Michelstadt in the Hessian Odenwaldkreis in Germany .

The Rote Buckel is one of the highest peaks in the gently undulating plateau of the Würzberger Platte in the Buntsandstein-Odenwald . The 540 m height line circumscribes an oval of a good one hectare area around the summit. It is located on the southern edge of the Würzberg field markings, just before the edge of the forest, southeast of the Jägertor and east of the animal shelter.

The Neckar-Odenwald-Limes runs over the Red Buckel, namely the Limes section between Fort Eulbach in the north and Fort Würzberg 1000 meters south of the Red Buckel. A watchtower that has been declared a ground monument has been found in the edge of the forest south of the Red Hump. The site find, together with a site on the Hohen Langhaele ( 548.3  m ) eight and a half kilometers further south, is the highest documented or archaeologically excavated tower in the Hessian Limes section.

The Euterbach rises south of the summit and west of the Würzberg fort .
