The Rothbach is a year-round flowing water of the 3rd order in the municipality of Egling in the Upper Bavarian district of Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen .

The Rothbach rises 100 m west of Hornstein in the forest area Mihlleithen at an altitude of 615  m above sea level. NN . It flows over 500 m to the east and reaches an altitude of 561  m above sea level. NN the hamlet of Aumühle . Here the course bends south to unite with the Aumühlbach after 150 m . From there, the course of the river changes again to the east, and after another 220 m it flows together with the Dreibrunnenbach as a right tributary into the Isar .

The estuary is located in the Pupplinger Au a conservation area in the river Isar .

The natural runoff of the Rothbach originally ran further north past the Aumühle, directly to the Isar as a receiving water . It was not until the 1st quarter of the 18th century that it was fed to the north of the Aumühlbach by means of the 150 m long guide ditch, which was as straight as a pin, to raise the low water level. The earlier course can still be seen in the Bavarian original cadastre from 1808.
