Archer E. Reilly

Archer Edwin Reilly (born July 1, 1918 in Huntington , West Virginia , † March 28, 2003 in Franklin County , Ohio ) was an American lawyer and politician . He was Ohio State Auditor from 1966 to 1967 .

Career

Archer Edwin Reilly, son of Archer Edwin "Arch" Reilly (1891–1963), was born in Huntington in 1918. His father was a professional baseball player in 1917, who played at third base for the Pittsburgh Pirates . Nothing is known about his youth. He graduated from Ohio State University and then studied law at Franklin University . After receiving his license to practice law, he began to practice. Reilly was a judge. He taught at Franklin University Law School and was President there. He also served in the Ohio House of Representatives for five terms for Franklin County . He was elected Auditor of State in a by-election in 1966, and served in the post for five weeks from 1966 to 1967. Reilly wrote many articles and was a US Navy veteran. After his death, he was buried in Union Cemetery in Columbus, Ohio.

During the Second World War he married Jean Waid (1918-2013), daughter of Robert and Ethel Waid. The couple were married for 61 years and had two sons.
