Ralph Osborn (* 1780 in Waterbury , Connecticut , † December 30, 1835 in Columbus , Ohio ) was an American lawyer and politician . He was Ohio State Auditor from 1815 to 1833 and served in the Ohio Senate from 1833 to 1835 .

Career

Ralph Osborn was born and raised in New Haven County during the Revolutionary War . Nothing is known about his youth. He studied law and then moved to Ohio in 1806, where he settled in Franklinton ( Franklin County ). After obtaining his license to practice law, he began practicing there. Osborn lived there for two or three years when he accepted an appointment as the first prosecuting attorney in Delaware County . Delaware County was created in 1810. Then he served as a clerk in the Ohio House of Representatives . Osborn held the post for five consecutive sessions until he was elected Auditor of State in 1815. As Auditor of State, he held the post for 18 years. In the fall of 1833 he was elected to the Ohio Senate for Franklin Counties and Pickaway Counties . During this time he moved to Columbus, Ohio, where he died at the age of 56.
