The Rotmainquelle is the origin of the Red Main , the left and southern source river of the Main , in the district of Bayreuth in Upper Franconia .

The Rotmainquelle is about ten kilometers south of Bayreuth , at an altitude of 581  m above sea level. NN , near Hörlasreuth , in the community-free area Lindenhardter Forst-Südost . The source is located in the Lindenhardter Forst forest area of ​​the same name , on the southern slope of the Tannenberg (596 m). The Rotmainquelle was set in stone in 1907, from there the water flows off via a narrow wooden pipe. The headwaters are in the Franconian Switzerland Nature Park - Veldenstein Forest .
