The Rottsberg , also called Rotzberg , near Moritzberg in the Lower Saxony district of Hildesheim is about 200 to 220  m above sea level. NHN high north-northeast flank of the 242.5  m high Lerchenberg of the Giesener Berge belonging to the Innerstebergland .

The Rottsberg is located in the southern part of the Giesener Berge , which connect to the north of the Hildesheim Forest , which is up to 358.9  m high, and from there strive north. It is located southwest of Moritzberg , a district of the city of Hildesheim , and slopes gently there. To the north the landscape leads over to the Gallberg ( 156  m ).

The Rottsberg belongs to the natural spatial main unit group Weser-Leine-Bergland (No. 37), in the main unit Innerstebergland (379) and in the subunit Hildesheimer Bergland (379.0) to the natural area Giesener Berge (379.00).

Protected areas

On the upper part of the Rottsberghang there are small areas from the southern part of the Finkenberg / Lerchenberg nature reserve ( CDDA no. 329374; designated 2004; 2.57  km² in size), small parts of the Haseder Busch fauna-flora-habitat area , Giesener Berge, Gallberg , Finkenberg (FFH no. 3825-301; 7.42 km²) and those of the bird sanctuary Hildesheimer Wald (VSG no. 3825-401; 12.47 km²). Parts are of the on the main part protected landscape Rottsberghang (CDDA No. 323996;., 1992; 1.29 square kilometers).

Facilities

The Twelve Apostles Church is on the eastern slope of the Rottsberg . From 1976 to 1985, the Bebop disco was located in a former excursion restaurant .
