Rudolf Fettweis

Rudolf Fettweis (born March 21, 1882 in Eupen ; † August 9, 1956 in Karlsruhe ) was a German electrical engineer , Baden construction clerk and later, as a member of the board of the Badenwerk, manager in the electricity industry .

Fettweis studied between 1902 and 1907 at the Technical University of Hanover and at the Technical University of Darmstadt . In 1907 he passed the main diploma examination and then worked at AEG in Berlin and for Siemens-Schuckertwerke GmbH in Cologne and Aachen .

From May 1, 1913, Fettweis worked for the Grand Ducal Baden Headquarters for Water and Road Construction in the newly created department for hydropower and electricity. Here he was involved in the construction of the first stage of the Murgwerk near Forbach ( Murgtalsperre and Forbach compensation basin ) and in the power distribution systems in Baden. After founding the company Badische Landes-Elektrizitäts -versorgung AG (later Badenwerk AG ) on July 6, 1921, Fettweis was appointed to the board . Under his direction the Schwarzenbachwerk was built and the Murgwerk in Forbach expanded. In his honor, the Forbach power plant was later renamed the Rudolf-Fettweis-Werk .
