Rudolf Loskand

Rudolf Loskand (born November 3, 1924 in Hagen ; † March 20, 2003 there ) was honorary mayor ( SPD ) of his hometown from 1971 to 1989 without interruption .

Life

Rudolf Loskand attended elementary school and then completed an apprenticeship in a large company in Hagen. He joined the Navy in 1942 and returned to his job as a lathe operator in July 1945 after being a short prisoner of war. From 1966 he worked in this company in a commercial position.

Union membership

Rudolf Loskand had been active as a trade unionist since his return in 1945, from September 1945 a member of the Westphalian Trade Union Confederation , from 1946 a member of IG Metall . Later he was a long-time union member of the large collective bargaining commission of IG Metall NRW .

politics

Rudolf Loskand joined the SPD in 1959 and in the following five years held various offices in local associations, at city association and subdistrict level. In 1964 Loskand was elected to the city council of Hagen. In 1970 Loskand was elected honorary first mayor and on February 11, 1971, he was elected honorary mayor. He held this office for 18 years until the local elections in autumn 1989.

Regional Association

Rudolf Loskand was a member of the landscape assembly of the Regional Association of Westphalia-Lippe from 1976 to 1989 and was its chairman from 1984 to 1989.

Honors

Rudolf Loskand was awarded the Great Federal Cross of Merit in 1990 , and in the same year the Freiherr vom Stein Medal in gold. In 1996, the city council of Hagen recognized Loskand's commitment with the honorary citizenship of the city of Hagen.
