Lothar Wrede

Lothar Wrede (born November 12, 1930 in Hagen ; † February 28, 2019 ) was a German politician ( SPD ). From 1976 to 1980 he was Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Minister for Transport and for Post and Telecommunications and in 1982 Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Minister for Internal German Relations .

Life and work

After attending primary school, Wrede completed an apprenticeship as an electrician and then worked as a company electrician. In 1954 he took up a job as a commercial clerk. He also worked as a member of the supervisory board of various companies.

Political party

Wrede joined the SPD in 1950 and was managing director of the SPD sub-district Hagen-Ennepe / Ruhr from 1960 to 1964.

MP

Wrede was from 1956 to 1976 council member of the city of Hagen and there until 1964 chairman of the SPD parliamentary group. From 1962 until his resignation on November 10, 1969, he was a member of the North Rhine-Westphalian state parliament . He was a member of the German Bundestag from 1969 to 1983. From 1980 to June 16, 1982 he was chairman of the committee for the postal and telecommunications system. He has always entered the Bundestag as a directly elected member of the Hagen constituency .

Public offices

Wrede served as honorary mayor of the city of Hagen from 1964 to 1971 . On December 16, 1976, he was appointed Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister for Transport and for Post and Telecommunications in the Federal Government led by Federal Chancellor Helmut Schmidt . After the Bundestag election in 1980 , he initially resigned from office, but was appointed Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister for Internal German Relations on April 28, 1982 on the occasion of a cabinet reshuffle. After Helmut Kohl was elected Federal Chancellor, Wrede left the government on October 4, 1982.
