Rudolf Schwaiger (politician)

Rudolf Schwaiger (born April 17, 1920 in Wattenberg , Tyrol ; † March 10, 1986 in Weer , Tyrol ) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ).

Life

Rudolf Schwaiger visited after the elementary school a human High School . He later received his doctorate from the University of Innsbruck . Then he went into business for himself and founded a sawmill in Weer . As a politician, Schwaiger was one of the founding members of the boarding school for skiers and the ski school in Tyrolean Stams in 1967 .

His political career began in the late 1950s when he moved into the Weer local council for the ÖVP . In 1961 he moved as a member of the Tyrolean state parliament . Schwaiger was a member of this group for ten years, until 1971. In November of the same year he moved to Vienna as a member of the Federal Council . Schwaiger was Federal Councilor for 15 years. Schwaiger took over the office of Federal Council President three times, in 1976, 1981 and most recently in the second half of 1985 .

Rudolf Schwaiger died shortly before his 66th birthday in office.
