Rudolph Wilde
Rudolph Wilde (born May 26, 1857 in Deutsch Krone ( West Prussia ), † November 1, 1910 in Schöneberg ) was a German local politician .
Rudolph Wilde was the first mayor of the then independent town after Schöneberg was granted town charter in 1898 and its first mayor from 1902 until his death . From 1907 he was also a member of the state parliament for the province of Brandenburg .
Wilde made a name for himself in particular with the urban expansion of Schöneberg. The following plans and buildings can be traced back to his initiative:
- Today's underground line U4 from Nollendorfplatz to Innsbrucker Platz with five stations, the first municipal underground line ever. The construction with representative train stations like Viktoria-Luise-Platz or Stadtpark (today: Rathaus Schöneberg ) took place between 1908 and 1910.
- The former city park, the Rudolph-Wilde-Park named after him today . Previously, the town hall forecourt was named after Wilde (Rudolph-Wilde-Platz). When Rathausplatz was renamed John-F.-Kennedy-Platz in honor of Kennedy in 1963 , the city park was named Wildes.
- The planning of the Schöneberg town hall ; the execution took place under his successor, Lord Mayor Alexander Dominicus .
Wilde's tenure also saw the construction of the representative Bavarian Quarter with splendid townhouses from the late Wilhelminian era . Rudolph Wilde received an honorary grave from the city of Berlin in the cemetery on Eisackstrasse . The grave is in Dept. 10. He was a member of the Berlin Freemason Lodge Friedrich Wilhelm zur Morgenröthe and co-founder of the Friedrich Leopold Lodge for the Peace League .
