The castle Eibach is the ruins of a moated castle in Lindlar in the Oberbergischer Kreis, in North Rhine-Westphalia , Germany .
location
The castle ruins are right next to Gut Eibach , a larger farm in Eibach in the area of the municipality of Lindlar .
The ruins of Neuenberg Castle are only a few hundred meters away .
history
It was built in the 14th century as a moated castle with a footprint of 15 by eight meters. It was first mentioned in a document in 1356.
In the 15th and 16th centuries, the estate was owned by the von Neuhoff knight family , known as Ley . It was then taken over by the Seraing family.
The castle burned down on the night of December 16-17, 1782. The mighty round tower in the southeast and partly the south wing of the outer bailey from the 17th century have been preserved. After the disaster, Count von Wallmoden bought the house, but in 1809 the inventory was auctioned.
A restoration took place towards the end of the 20th century, which resulted in costs of 200,000 DM .
