Ruinside was a Finnish thrash and power metal band from Tampere that was formed in 2005 and split up in 2015.

history

The band was founded in 2005 by Johnny "Hornanvasara" Kylätie and Kimmo "Rihmis" Jankkari after their bands The Unblessed and Ferocity respectively split up. Both had come into contact via the Internet through Muusikoiden.net . Initially, Kylätie played the electric guitar, Jankkari played the electric guitar and took over the vocals and another person named Teemu Lehtiö worked on the bass. The first rehearsals - the very first in summer 2005 - took place without a drummer, instead midi files were played by a computer. Various drummers applied, but none of the band members met their expectations, so Kylätie decided to switch to this instrument. Erkki Seppänen joined as a singer. After an advertisement on Muusikoiden.net , Seppo "Zeppo" Kolehmainen was accepted as another guitarist. After the line-up was subject to several changes in the following years, a stable line-up was found in 2010. Then in 2012, after two demos and two EPs , the debut album The Hunt was released via Mighty Music . After the release, it went on tour through Denmark , Spain , Belgium , Germany and Finland. Music videos were also created for three different songs on the album . Shortly after the album was released, bassist Lauri Aitonurmi died in a car accident. After a few months in which the members discussed the future of the band, it was finally decided to look for a new bass player, who after two months was found in the person of Pirkka Birkstedt. Completely again, work on the second album began at the end of 2013. The recordings ended in spring 2014. The album was released in 2014, also via Mighty Music, under the name 10 Forms of Dominion . In early 2015, the band announced their breakup, but a later reactivation was not ruled out.

style

Ronny Bittner from Rock Hard noticed melodic Thrash Metal on The Hunt , with a smooth transition to hard Power Metal. In his opinion, the singer "Toni Salminen sounds like a bigger [sic] (and weaker) variant of Rage -Fronter Peavy Wagner ". Some songs could do without Thrash Metal elements, but would contain choral singing like Grave Digger . Occasionally, cellos, violins and keyboards are also used. The album is suitable for fans of Iced Earth , Morgana Lefay or Rage. Walter from Metal.de stated that the subject of “hunting” is a recurring theme on the album, with the music being presented “in an atmospheric fine way and with occasional excursions into symphonic realms”. Both melodic Thrash Metal and “massive” Power Metal are offered. In the songs, the band occasionally processed melancholy passages and elements borrowed from Swedish metal . The vocals are "rough-throated" and remind me several times of the Morgana Lefay singer Charles Rytkönen and the riffs used would partly remind of this group. Overall, Ruinside is more violent than this band. If the group falls into a groovy thrash metal part, this shows parallels to bands like Forbidden , Perzonal War , Face Down Hero , Channel Zero , Cyclone Temple and Wrathchild America . In a later rock-hard edition, Thomas Kupfer reviewed 10 Forms of Dominion and also described the music as melodic Thrash Metal, which sounds influenced by groups such as Toxik , Annihilator and Helstar . However, the group is much less reef-heavy and variable, which is why they often approach Power Metal.
