Localization of Lower Austria in Austria

The broadcasting station Wachberg is a hybrid tower with a transmitter of the Austrian radio for VHF and TV. The transmitter is located on the 931 meter high Wachberg in the municipality of St. Martin near Weitra .

construction

The mast was built in 1968 (inauguration August 3rd). The construction cost 30 million schillings at the time.

At first glance, the 130-meter-high antenna carrier of the Wachberg radio station looks like a normal guyed tubular steel mast. Only when you look up close does it become apparent that this transmission mast is not on the ground, but on a small concrete tower that also houses the operating rooms ( hybrid tower ) .
