Ruslana Korschunowa

Ruslana Sergeyevna Korschunowa ( Russian Руслана Коршунова , English spelling Ruslana Sergeyevna Korshunova ; born July 2, 1987 in Alma-Ata , Kazakh SSR , Soviet Union ; † June 28, 2008 in New York City , New York ) was a Kazakh (ethnically Russian ) Photo model .

Career

Korschunowa was discovered in November 2003 by a booker from the modeling agency Models 1 , who noticed her face in a magazine article about her hometown. She modeled for Donna Karan , Christian Dior , Marc Jacobs , Paul Smith and Vera Wang, among others . She was featured on the covers of Polish and Russian editions of Vogue and French magazine Elle . Most recently she was under contract with the agency IMG Models .

Four days before her 21st birthday, Korschunova committed suicide by jumping nine stories from the balcony of her Manhattan apartment .
