Russyliw ( Ukrainian Русилів ; Russian Русилов Russilow , Polish Rusiłów ) is a village in the Ukrainian Ternopil Oblast with about 300 inhabitants (2015) and an area of 5.57 km².
Geographical location
The village is located at an altitude of 349 m on the bank of the Strypa , a 147 km long left tributary of the Dniester , 7 km northeast of the community center Solotyj Potik , 17 km south of the Rajon center of Butschach and about 85 km southwest of the oblast center of Ternopil . To the southeast of the village, on a small right tributary of the Strypa, is the Russyliw waterfalls ( Русилівські водоспади Russyliwski wodospady ), a Ukrainian hydrological natural monument of local importance.
history
In the village, first mentioned in writing in the 16th century, a tragedy broke out at the end of 1949: Because numerous residents of the village supported the Ukrainian insurgent army , a leading KGB man announced on October 14, 1949 that all residents would be relocated and threatened to oppose them Measure the deportation to Siberia. Accordingly, the eviction and destruction of the village began on October 20, 1949. In ten days the Bolsheviks destroyed 194 buildings, leaving the village in complete ruin. 167 families were settled in Dnepropetrovsk Oblast and five families who had resisted resettlement were deported to special settlements in Kazakhstan and western Siberia. After Stalin's death , 100 families returned to Russyliw from 1955 and rebuilt the village.
Since October 2015 Russyliw belongs administratively to the rural community of Sokoliw ( Золотопотіцька територіальна громада ) in the southeast of the Rajon Rajon .
