List of Bulgarian-Portuguese town and municipality partnerships
This list of Bulgarian-Portuguese town and municipality partnerships shows the town and municipality friendships between the countries of Bulgaria and Portugal .
So far, municipalities in both countries have entered into or initiated 15 municipal partnerships with one another (as of 2010). They are an expression of the Bulgarian-Portuguese relations that have developed since the realignment of Portuguese foreign policy following the left-wing Carnation Revolution in 1974 and the subsequent end of the semi-fascist Estado Novo dictatorship in Portugal, and which experienced a further rapprochement with Bulgaria's accession to the EU in 2007 . The first Bulgarian-Portuguese city friendship was formed in 1976 by Stara Sagora and Barreiro .
