This list of Portuguese-South African city and community partnerships shows the city ​​and community friendships between the countries of Portugal and South Africa .

Despite the long Portuguese-South African relationship , only three partnerships between Portuguese and South African municipalities have so far been established or initiated. The first was created in 1987 between Funchal on the Portuguese island of Madeira and the South African port city of Cape Town .
