This list of Angolan-Portuguese city and municipality partnerships shows the city and municipality friendships between the countries Angola and Portugal .
The town twinning is a sign of the centuries-old Angolan-Portuguese relationship . After the former Portuguese colony of Angola gained independence in 1975 , Lubango and Santarém formed the first Angolan-Portuguese friendship between cities in 1988. A total of 19 Angolan-Portuguese partnerships already exist or are being initiated (as of 2010).
