The stinkhorn-like ( Phallales ) are an order of large mushrooms from the class Agaricomycetes .

features

The fruiting bodies of the stinkhorn initially develop as what is known as a witch's egg , with a gelatinous layer between the endo- and exoperidia. By stretching a receptaculum , the witch's egg tears open at the vertex and the primarily chambery, moist gleba is exposed.

ecology

The phallales spread their spores through insects, which they attract with attractant colors and carrion-like smells. They are therefore also called carrion fly mushrooms.

Systematics

In Central Europe there are representatives of the dog's rod and stink morels . In addition, 2 types of latticework were introduced . The order of the stinkhorn-like comprises 6 families and about 80 species that are distributed worldwide, especially in the tropics. Hosaka and authors (2006) include the following families among the phallales:

German name Scientific name Author quote
Cage relatives Clathraceae Chevallier 1826
Stinkhorn relatives Phallaceae Corda 1842
Lysuraceae Corda 1842
Protophallaceae Zeller 1939
Claustulaceae G. Cunningham 1931
Trappeaceae PM Kirk 2008
