Ruthilde Boesch

Ruthilde Boesch b. Ruthilde Klösterer , married Ruthilde Loibner (born January 9, 1918 in Braunau am Inn ; † January 20, 2012 in Vienna ) was an Austrian opera, operetta, lieder and concert singer ( soprano ) and vocal teacher .

Life

Ruthilde Klösterer grew up in Mödling . After finishing school she studied singing at the Vienna Music Academy with Fritzi Lahr-Goldschmied , Alfred Jerger and Judith Hellwig, among others . She completed masterclasses with Helene Wildbrunn and an intensive role study with the Mozart conductor Josef Krips .

From 1945 to 1971 the soprano, “whose main role is to be found in the field of coloratura soubrette”, was a member of the Vienna State Opera ensemble . There she appeared in a total of 387 appearances and in 38 different roles. The artist preferred to play the most important roles in Mozart's subject: the Queen of the Night and Papagena ( The Magic Flute ), Susanna ( The Marriage of Figaro ), Blondchen ( The Abduction from the Seraglio ), Despina ( Così fan tutte ), etc. are still her roles as Cloe in Queen of Spades , Olympia in Hoffmann's Tales , Zerbinetta in Ariadne auf Naxos and Luciete in The Four Ruffians , to name just a few of the many. In 1949 she sang the second boy in The Magic Flute at the Salzburg Festival under Wilhelm Furtwängler , and in the same year the Blondchen in Die Entführung aus dem Serail at the Bregenz Festival .

Ruthilde Boesch has appeared on most of the world's major stages. She has performed numerous concerts and guest performances. a. through Europe, the USA, the Middle East, Australia, South and North America and Japan (where she lived for a while), accompanied by her second husband, the State Opera conductor Prof. Wilhelm Loibner . With him she made five world tours.

In 1968 she was appointed Austrian chamber singer.

After finishing her active career, the singer, whose love was also the operetta , devoted herself to teaching. As a singing teacher, she made history. Her students included Edita Gruberová as well as Edith Mathis , Eva Lind , Genia Kühmeier , Theresia Aranowski , Marika Lichter , Sewan Salmasi , Ute Ziemer , Arno Raunig , Sandra Schwarzhaupt , Katerina Sokolová-Rauer , her son Christian Boesch and her grandson Florian Boesch .

From her marriage to AE Boesch Ruthilde Boesch had sons Wolfgang Boesch (* 1939, writer) and Christian Boesch.

She is buried in Vienna at the Grinzinger Friedhof (group 6, row 4, no. 4).
