Ryan Miller (born December 14, 1984 in Barrington , Illinois ) is an American football player .
Youth and college
Miller attended Barrington High School and was part of the football school team. In four years he scored 36 goals and provided 28 assists. He then played from 2003 to 2007 in 91 games for the college team of the University of Notre Dame , making it their record player. The defensive player spent the season breaks from 2005 to 2007 in the USL Premier Development League with the Indiana Invaders .
Club career
In the MLS SuperDraft 2008 he was drafted in the 3rd round in a total of 31st place by Columbus Crew , but retired during the current season after a few missions for the reserve team and a short loan to the Cleveland City Stars .
With DC United was immediately a new club that Miller took on. There Miller was also without a mission in Major League Soccer , but came in October 2008 to three missions in the CONCACAF Champions League 2008/09 . One week after the start of the 2009 season , he was released from DC United at the end of March and then went to Europe for trial training.
In July 2009 he finally signed a contract with the Swedish second division club Ljungskile SK , where three other Americans were already under contract with Etchu Tabe , Sam Brill and Colin Burns . Miller immediately established himself at Ljungskile and came to 14 appearances in the Superettan in the further course of the season . For the 2010 season, he originally came to an agreement with the Gothenburg first division club GAIS , but the club had to cancel him due to financial problems. He then received a three-year contract from the first division competitor Halmstads BK , after he won a test training there in the spring of 2009. In his first year at the new club, still successful in the relegation battle in the Allsvenskan , he rose with the team around Michael Görlitz , Richard Magyar , Johnny Lundberg and Tomas Žvirgždauskas at the end of the 2011 season in the second division. However, he remained loyal to the club and contributed as a high performer to the direct resurgence when the team trained by Jens Gustafsson prevailed through successes over GIF Sundsvall in the relegation .
