Ryan Quigley

Ryan Quigley (* 1977 in Derry ) is a British jazz trumpeter and music teacher.

Live and act

Quigley began playing the trumpet when he was eleven ; The music of Miles Davis , Clifford Brown , John Coltrane and Maynard Ferguson had an early influence on his musical development . He played from the early 2000s a. a. in the groups Jason & The Angrynotes, Salsa Celtica , the Quartet Brass Jaw and the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra . In 2008 he recorded his debut album Laphroaig-ian Slip under his own name ; What Doesn't Kill You followed in 2016 .

In the field of jazz Quigley was involved in 21 recording sessions between 2003 and 2018, including a. also with Niki King , the Tony Faulkner Jazz Orchestra, Tim Garland / The Northern Underground Orchestra, the Tommy Smith Youth Jazz Orchestra. He has also worked and toured with All Bergman , The Bad Plus , Jimmy Greene , Bob Geldof , Curtis Stigers , Del Amitri , Liam Gallagher , Incognito and Sharleen Spiteri . Quigley taught trumpet at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow , where he also directed the big band .

In 2015 Quigley performed in the Swiss Youth Jazz Orchestra ( Jazzaar Summit ) in Aarau; He is currently a member of the Jan Schreiner Large Ensemble. In 2016 he appeared on Mark Forster's album TAPE and can be heard on the trumpet on the piece Sowieso , among others . He has also worked on numerous TV jingles, themed music and film soundtracks.
