Sârbii-Măgura is a municipality in the northeast of Olt County , in Great Wallachia in Romania .

Geographical location

Sârbii-Măgura is located on the county road ( drum județean ) DJ 657B at an altitude of about 182 meters above sea ​​level on the brook Vedi Bacha and covers about 42 km². The municipality borders directly on Corbu in the south and on Optași-Măgura in the north . Sârbii-Măgura is about 25 kilometers southeast of the small town of Scorniceşti ; the district capital Slatina about 42 kilometers southwest of Sârbii-Măgura.

history

The village Vităneşti was spun off from the municipality Optași-Măgura in 2003 and has since formed the municipality of Sârbii-Măgura. The hamlets Cosereni , Ungheni , Vităneştii-Mici , Branişte and Sârbi are assigned to the village of Vităneşti .

The part of the name Sârbii has the same meaning as the Romanian name for the Serbs .

The Romanian writer Nicolae Oprea was born in Sârbii-Măgura in 1950 and is a member of the "Romanian Writers' Union".
