action
Franck Poupart is a sales agent who sells his wares door to door in the gray suburbs of Paris . During his work he comes across the underage Mona who lives with her aunt and is prostituted by her. He is appalled by this and although he is fascinated by the attractive girl, he does not sleep with her. His wife leaves him after a marital argument. For this he is now being pursued by Mona, who has apparently fallen in love with him. When it is discovered that he has embezzled money at work, he is arrested. Mona pays the 1,500 francs he owes his boss and tells Franck about the millions that her aunt is hiding, and also about a gun. Franck then plans a robbery with the help of a poor devil named Andreas Tikides, whom he wants to take with him as a scapegoat. He succeeds in the plan and the old lady and Andreas Tikides perish as planned. Unfortunately, his wife, who has since returned, first becomes suspicious when she discovers the suitcase. When she confronts him, he also murders her. Then his boss finds out about him and blackmails him until Franck gives him all of the booty. In the end he only has Mona and the ruined dream of great freedom.
