The SG Bruchköbel (officially: Sportgemeinschaft 1868 Bruchköbel eV ) is a sports club from Bruchköbel in the Main-Kinzig district . The first soccer team played for a year in the then fourth-class Oberliga Hessen . The first men's handball team took part in the DHB Cup twice. The first women's team qualified for the DHB main round in 2013.

history

In 1868 the gymnastics community Bruchköbel was founded, from which the gymnastics company Bruchköbel split off in 1894 . In 1909 a football department was founded at the gymnastics community, which became independent in 1927 as VfR Bruchköbel . Six years later, the VfR and the gymnastics community were banned as members of the Workers' Gymnastics and Sports Association . The footballers then founded 1. FC Bruchköbel as the successor club, which four years later merged with the gymnastics company Bruchköbel to form VfL Bruchköbel . This was banned after the end of the Second World War . Today's SG Bruchköbel was founded on February 2, 1946.

Soccer

After many years in the lower divisions, he was promoted to the Landesliga Hessen-Süd for the first time in 1990 . After the immediate relegation, the ascent was not possible until 1999, which was followed two years later by another descent. Only after the third promotion in 2003 was the SG able to establish itself and in 2005 even made it to the Oberliga Hessen under coach Holger Trimhold . Due to the poor goal difference compared to the equal points 1. FC Schwalmstadt , KSV Baunatal and FSV Steinbach , the Bruchköbler had to relegate again. Since then, the team has been back in the regional league, which has been called the Association League since 2008 .

Handball

The SG Bruchköbel handball players qualified twice for the DHB Cup. In 2009 the team failed in the first round at the HG Oftersheim / Schwetzingen , a year later also in the first round at TuS Wermelskirchen . The handball players qualified for the first DHB Cup main round in 2013. The draw resulted in an away game at TV Strombach / Gummersbach. The game was won with 24:31 and thus reached the 2nd main round. The draw here resulted in a home game against Bundesliga club TuS Weibern . In the 2016/17 season, the first men's team rose to the 3rd division .

Table tennis

The table tennis department of SG Bruchköbel has been on the road to success since 2007. Dozens of district and district masters were produced, as well as some placements at the Hesse level. Since 2011, we have been training in our own table tennis hall with a red Olympic floor. The club landed its biggest coup in 2013 when Simon Winterstein won the German mini championship .
