history

Presidents of SIK-GIS 1990–2018 (excluding Thomas Hardmeier), 2018

The SIK-GIS was used in 1990 by the board of directors and the working conference of the SIK to deal more closely with the new working instrument GIS, the geodata managed in it and the associated methods and technologies. SIK-GIS was one of the founding members of the Swiss Society for Geoinformation (SOGI). SIK-GIS acted as a pioneering group in the development of GIS in Switzerland. Various coordination tasks have since been taken over by other organizations. The rapidly growing volume of work at the GIS departments, which is related to implementation work on the Federal Geoinformation Act (GeoIG), has made it increasingly difficult to find members for the working group. For this reason, the SIK-GIS working group decided on March 22, 2018 to apply to the SIK Board of Directors to dissolve the working group at the end of 2018. On May 2, 2018, the SIK board decided to dissolve the working group according to the proposal.
