The 2009-10 season was the sixth regular season of the Southern Professional Hockey League . The seven teams completed 56 games each in the regular season . The team with the highest points in the regular season was the Mississippi Surge , while the Huntsville Havoc won the President's Cup for the first time in the play-offs .
Team changes
The following changes were made before the start of the season:
- The Richmond Renegades stopped gaming.
- The Twin City Cyclones stopped playing.
- The Louisiana IceGators were added to the league as an expansion team.
- The Mississippi Surge were added to the league as an expansion team.
- The Pensacola Ice Flyers were added to the league as an expansion team.
