Sachiko M. (* 1973 as Sachiko Matsubara松原 幸 子) is a Japanese musician and sound artist.

Life

Sachiko M., who initially worked in a theater, was discovered in 1994 by Yoshihide Otomo , who recruited her as a member of the band Ground Zero . There she mainly worked with the sampling technique ; she was involved in all of the band's albums until they broke up in 1998. Afterwards she continued to work with Yoshihide Otomo in the Filament and ISO groups , but since 1999 she has also released solo albums in which she clearly focused on electronic music . She later worked in a duo with Ami Yoshida as Cosmos ; with Michiyo Yagi she was part of the avant pop band Hoahio . She also worked increasingly with European improvisation musicians such as Keith Rowe , Evan Parker , Steve Beresford , Günter Müller , but also with David Sylvian , Jon Rose and Jim O'Rourke . Since 2004 she has also presented sound installations; since 2010 she has also been working as a photographer.

In 2003, together with Ami Yoshida and Utah Kawasaki, she was awarded the Golden Nica of the Prix ​​Ars Electronica in the digital music category.
