Sagan Lewis

Sagan Lewis (* 1953 as Susan J. Lewis in Omaha , Nebraska , † August 7, 2016 in New York City , New York ) was an American actress .

Life

Lewis grew up in Council Bluffs , Iowa and received her Masters degree in Acting from the University of California at San Diego . During an audition at the 1978 Williamstown Theater Festival in Massachusetts, she met screenwriter Tom Fontana . At first the two lived together in an apartment in New York City, in 1980 they moved to Los Angeles , where Fontana from film director and film producer Bruce Paltrow worked as a writer for the series Dr. Westphall was hired. On December 18, 1982, Lewis and Fontana were married at Paltrow's house and his wife, Blythe Danner .

Paltrow cast Lewis in 1982 in chief physician Dr. Westphall as Dr. Jacqueline Wade , a role she played in a total of 86 episodes over all seven years of production. In the same year she made her feature film debut at the side of Tim Matheson and Kate Capshaw in Paltrow's comedy The Seduced Man . The following year she starred in the final episode of the series M * A * S * H as Nurse Armstrong , as well as the TV movie Cocain alongside Dennis Weaver and Karen Grassle .

The marriage ended in divorce in 1992 and their son Jade Scott Lewis was born in the same year. Lewis moved to Sedona , Arizona , where she worked as an acting teacher and program director at the Sedona International Film Festival . After the end of chief physician Dr. Westphall played Lewis in five episodes of the series Homicide produced by her ex-husband between 1995 and 1999 as the recurring role of judge Susan Aandahl . During a Christmas party in 2014, Fontana proposed a second marriage and the couple remarried in July 2015.

Lewis had had cancer since 2010 and succumbed to the effects of her illness at the age of 63.
