Salzburger Almenweg

The Salzburger Almenweg is a long-distance hiking trail in Austria . It leads in 31 stages over 350 km through the mountains of the Pongau in the province of Salzburg . You pass over 120 alpine pastures , 90 percent of which run at an altitude of 1,000 to 2,000 meters. With the Almenweg u. a. reminds that the Salzburger Land and especially the Pongau is characterized by a special density of alpine pastures that no other Austrian federal state has.

The blue plant of the alpine gentian with the lettering Salzburger Almenweg serves as a mark and marking of the Salzburger Almenweg .

Hiking pin

Hikers on the Almenweg can acquire the Salzburger Almenwandernadel as an award for their athletic achievements . The individual hiking destinations are to be proven by a stamp. These stamps per stage, the length of which is between 4.8 and 20.5 kilometers, can be obtained from every participating alp along the Almenweg. If the stamp is missing or the alpine hut is closed, the data can be entered manually in the corresponding field of the hiking booklet or confirmed at the local tourist office.

history

The Salzburger Almenweg was designed and laid out in 2006. It emerged from the tourism product development under the direction of SalzburgerLand Tourismus GmbH together with the tourism associations and communities of the Pongau. The Almenweg has received several awards and has become the flagship of the alpine summer in the Salzburg region.

Not only do numerous vacationers enjoy the Salzburger Almenweg, but also locals. After ten years of successful existence, anniversary events were held in summer 2016.
